A Fun Day in Auckland | Un día divertido en Auckland

It was time for my friends to greet the “Pou” in Manukau. We packed up a bunch of different outfits, tennis shoes and dance shoes, and headed north to Auckland. On this day, they would see the precious Pou Kapua and have a chance to interact with the people who created it, their family, and their favorite chef at the Auckland Fish Market. Kuki, Tohunga Whakairo (master carver), and Tania Wolfgramm (visionary technologist) are the force behind the Pou Kapua creation. The evening would end with the celebration of my friend’s Sara Djuric’s birthday and social dancing till 2 am at the Muddy Farmers. Sara is the New Zealand national salsa champion – a lovely, generous, and gracious person. Amanda drove us safely back to Hamilton in the fog, with a weary eyed co-pilot (me!).
